People who work in the health service say Labour are the party they trust most with the NHS, a poll has found.
Dods Research asked 2,000 health workers which parties’ policies they thought would most benefit their work. 29% said Labour, the Conservatives came in 11 points behind on 18%, while the Lib Dems got 6%, the Greens 5% and UKIP received the least amount of votes with 3%.
Meanwhile 33% said they didn’t know or would prefer not to say.
However, the picture isn’t so positive in Scotland. Almost one third thought the SNP would best benefit their work, while 22% said the same for Labour.
In terms of particular polices, 79% of workers thought Labour’s pledges on healthcare (such as imposing a cap on the profits private firms can make through NHS work and guaranteeing GP appointments within 48 hours) were desirable or very desirable.
Meanwhile, the Conservative’s proposals to ensure people have the right to see a named GP got 49% support and UKIP’s plan to put GPs in A&E units received 60% support.
