David Cameron has repeatedly refused to rule out cutting child benefit.
In response, Labour’s latest attack poster highlights that the choice between Labour and the Tories is one between protecting child benefit and cutting it:
On this, later today Ed Miliband is expected to say:
“Now we know the Tories are planning to devastate family finances.
“The Prime Minister was asked last night whether he planned to cut child benefit.
“He used 600 words to answer.
“When just one would have done: ‘no.’”
“David Cameron was asked three times last night whether he planned to cut child benefit.
“Three times he refused to answer.
“Three times he sent a brutally clear message to British families: he wants to cut your child benefit.
“He has done it before and he will do it again.”
“In the last week of this election we know what is at stake.
“Cuts to your family budget are on the ballot paper.
“After last night, we know the reality.
“We have six days to save your child benefit.
“That’s why this election matters – it’s your vote, your family, your finances.
“Working families can’t afford five more years of bills rising faster than wages.
“Our NHS can’t afford five more years of the Tories’ extreme spending cuts.
“Six days from today is our chance for change.
“In six days, we have a chance to choose Labour’s plan to put working families first, based on one simple truth that Britain only succeeds when working people succeed.”
