Splits on show as readers at odds over Labour’s chances in 2020

LabourList readers are split over their expectations for Labour in the 2020 general election – but a majority are more positive about the party now compared to a year ago.

In our end of year readers’ survey, 43% said they were a lot more positive about Labour now compared to last year, while 12% said they were a bit more positive.

On the other hand 29% said they felt a lot more negative, and 10% said they were a bit more negative, showing a fairly polarising picture of the party’s grassroots. Just 5% said they felt roughly the same about how the party is doing.

2016

When asked how they feel about Labour’s chances in the 2020 general election, the rifts are even more evident.

30% of those who took part in the survey say they very negative about Labour’s election prospects, while a further 14% are quite negative about the party’s chances.

Overall, slightly more than half are more positive about the future, with 29% feeling quite positive about 2020, and a further 22% feeling very positive about the next general election.
