An omen for next year? Corbyn’s Christmas card features the dove of peace

After a year in which Labour has been beset by in-fighting, Jeremy Corbyn has tapped into the spirit of goodwill by using his Christmas card to offer an olive branch.

The Labour leader has published the design of his card for this year, which features a white dove of peace atop a Labour-red background.

The minimalist design, featuring a peace-symbolising dove carrying an olive branch, has the message inside of “with warmest wishes for a merry Christmas and a happy new year”.

Some are interpreting the dove and olive branch design as a peace offering to the groups dissatisfied with the Labour leader.

Corbyn has been long known as an anti-war campaigner and pacifist, so the dove design could be inspired by this as well.
