The Tottenham Journal reports that Ed Miliband has pledged to remain “impeccably neutral” in the forthcoming London Mayoral race, after he was asked if he’d be backing Tottenham MP David Lammy for Mayor.
However the Tottenham Journal also quotes Miliband as saying:
“I will work with whoever is selected as the London Mayoral candidate, but that will be for the London Labour party members to decide.”
However that can’t be the case – as it’s not London Labour Party members who will decide who the next Labour candidate for London Mayor is, it’s the people of London in a (as yet undefined) primary contest. Labour sources have since confirmed that the party (and Miliband’s) position is clear – as the Labour Leader said back in July, it’ll be a primary.
