* Alistair Darling will unveil a £2 billion pound “green” investment bank in this week’s budget to help Britain’s transformation to a low carbon economy.

* The Chancellor must find another £10 billion in budget savings to halve the budget deficit, reports the Times.

* Gordon Brown will compare the arrival of superfast broadband to the invention of electricity, saying it will save the government billions of pounds and revolutionise the provision of public services.
