ComRes, March 29th: Con 37%, Lab 30%, LD 20%

A new ComRes poll for tomorrow’s Independent shows a net loss of 2% for Labour on the Tories over the last month.

The Conservatives are unchanged from last month’s equivalent home on 37%, Labour are down one point to 30%, while the Lib Dems are up one point to 20%.

In spite of the 7% Tory lead, the new poll, translated uniformly to a general election, would still deliver a hung parliament, with the Tories 35 seats short of a working majority on 291 seats, and Labour on 273, according to the UK Polling Report Swing Calculator.

In the polls other numbers, 50% of respondents think it would be “unthinkable” re-elect Gordon Brown; 44% disagree. 51% say they personally feel no enthusiasm for the Conservative Party. And 38% believe the country would be better off with a hung parliament and coalition government, while 53 % disagree.
