It is a huge honour to have been selected as the Labour Party candidate for Barnsley Central. My whole working life has been dedicated to public service. That’s what first took me into the British Army where I served for 15 years. If elected as the next MP for Barnsley Central I believe that my service to our country would help me to be a strong voice for this constituency.
Under this Tory-led government life is getting harder for people here in Barnsley. They have increased VAT to 20%, are trebling tuition fees and have scrapped Education Maintenance Allowance.
David Cameron claims that we are all in this together but I don’t think that it’s fair that Barnsley is suffering bigger cuts than Surrey or Hampshire.
I’m going to be fighting for every vote street by street between now and election day. But I need your help. This weekend I’m holding a campaign weekend and I would be delighted if you could attend.
I want to be a strong voice for the people of Barnsley. I will always stand up for Barnsley and it would be a great honour to represent this constituency.
