Two Tory candidates for the Welsh Assembly are under investigation by the party for making tasteless and sexist jokes on Facebook, and in a twist that will embarrass the Prime Minister, one of the candidates – Joel James – was name-checked in Cameron’s speech to the Welsh Conservative conference last year.
WalesOnline says that Mr James posted “juvenile and sexist comments on Facebook, including a reference to French pornography.” The other candidate, Dan Saxton, “posted a tasteless joke involving a little girl on Facebook and last month he posted a sexist joke about how to get a “bird into bed”.”
This isn’t the first time that the Welsh Conservative candidates have come under fire for making “jokes” on Facebook. Only a month ago, Richard Lowe (Assembly candidate for Alyn & Deeside) stepped down for “personal reasons”, after it emerged that Lowe had made a joke about Madeleine McCann on the social networking site.
