Eric Illsley, the former Barnsley MP who received a 12-month prison sentence for false accounting, has called on the police and the CPS to pursue Denis MacShane following his resignation as an MP. Illsley is quoted by the Sunday Times (£) as saying:
“This is an absolute double standard. I was convicted of false accounting but I never forged documents as Denis has. Why has he not been prosecuted when we were?”
