Falkirk West: Len McCluskey denounces “smear campaign” and threatens legal action

[liveblog]The New Statesman has a leaked letter from Unite General Secretary Len McCluskey to Unite members in the beleaguered Falkirk West Constituency.

The constituency was placed in special measures as a result of an NEC investigation into allegations of irregularities in the selection process.

In the letter McCluskey says:

“Unite is being subjected to a behind-the-scenes smear campaign. We will be challenging this procedure and this campaign through all proper channels within the Party, publicly and by legal action if necessary.”

The full text of the letter can be read at the New Statesman.
