Since I started running LabourList three years ago, I’ve always been determined to make sure that it’s more than just a blog. Over the past year we’ve begun to cover a far greater range of Labour movement news – as well as the broad range of opinions from across the party that we’ve always been known for.
LabourList is now an established part of the Labour landscape – but with your help, we can do even more.
That’s why today we’re launching our LabourList Grassroots Programme, which is designed to provide a tangible way for ordinary grassroots activists to engage directly with their party. The grassroots are the lifeblood of any party, and without a strong grassroots there’s a tendency for parties to become aloof, narrow – and rootless.
At a time when the Labour Party says it wants to be broader and more responsive to the needs of members and supporters, we want to make that a reality.
Our LabourList Grassroots Programme will include events (not just in London but around the country too), an expanded conference programme (with reserved seating for supporters), exclusive Q&A events with senior Labour figures, private drinks parties with other LabourList supporters, and other activities to make your voice stronger.
But to do all of this, we need your help – will you donate £1 a week to help us deliver this?
Compared to many blogs on the right – and the Tory media more broadly – we operate on a shoestring budget. I’m the only person working on LabourList’s editorial (seven days a week), and delivering this exciting LabourList Grassroots Programme will be another big task. With your support we can make this a reality – and for one week only, any donations made will be matched by a generous donor.
If you can give just £1 or £2 a week, you can help LabourList grow in this crucial period before the election – and be part of our LabourList Grassroots Events Programme too.
We also want to know which issues matter to you – so please visit our new LabourList Events Page here and let us know: http://my.labourlist.org/page/s/labourlist-grassroots-events-programme
I hope that you’ll join us – and thank you for reading, contributing and sharing
