Weekly Survey: Right to recall, Queen’s Speech proposals and working class voters

queens_speech3-1

Before the Queen’s Speech last week, six LabourList contributors set out one bill each that they would include if they had a choice. Given there were only eleven policies in the actual Queen’s Speech, it means LabourList has almost as much of a legislative agenda as the British Government (kind of).

This week, we want to know which of those policies you liked best.

Along with forcing shops to make a small charge on all plastic bags, their other flagship policy was to introduce a bill enabling MPs to be recalled. Conor Pope set out his opposition to it here, but what do you think?

Away from the Queen’s Speech, Rachel Reeves warned that Labour have lost – and are still losing – many working class voters who traditionally have made up our base. Luke Akehurst claimed that to leave them behind would leave us with a “20% strategy” for the election.

We want to know your thoughts. Do we need to try harder to connect with the working class? Or is too much made of the “working class vote” in modern Britain?

The LabourList Weekly Survey will be open until noon on Thursday. You can vote here.
