It appears that Labour will go into the election with five main pledges, probably forming a 2015 pledge card. The first two of these pledges have already been announced.
On Thursday, Ed Miliband revealed that cutting the deficit would be Labour’s first election pledge:
We will build a strong economic foundation and balance the books. We will cut the deficit every year while securing the future of the NHS. And none of our manifesto commitments will require additional borrowing.

On Monday, the second pledge was announced in an Ed Miliband speech on immigration:
We will control immigration with fair rules. People who come here won’t be able to claim benefits for two years and we will make it illegal for employers to undercut wages by exploiting workers.

This week, LabourList published a pamphlet of essays by Labour candidates, called Our Labour, Our Communities. It was edited by Lisa Nandy MP, with a foreword by Arnie Graf. You can read it for free here.
We want to know what you think about the way candidates campaign. Is it generally more important for candidates to be independent, and have greater autonomy over their campaigns? Or it it better that they represent the Labour Party, and support the party’s national message? Let us know.
Our weekly survey will be open until noon on Thursday. You can vote here.
