There’s two sets of polling out that signal good news for the Labour party. Both are produced by YouGov, one looks at London and the other at young people.
Firstly, the London poll, which YouGov conducted on behalf of the Evening Standard has Labour 12 points ahead of the Tories, four points up from the last poll they did last week:
Lab 44%, Con 32%, Ukip 10% ,Lib Dem 7%, Green 5%
As the elections last May prove, Labour have a strong base of support in London that they’re building upon and consolidating. In particular, it looks like this is a reaction to a fall in support for the Greens, who have lost 3 points since January.
When it comes to young people, there’s similarly good news for Labour. The party have recently announced a host of policies directed at young people – among them a reduction in tuition fees from £9,000 a £6,000 a year. It looks like this is paying off.
YouGov’s poll of young people (under the age of 25 in this particular case), for the British Young Council, sees Labour well ahead of the Tories. However, the Tories have the greens very close on their tail – only 3 points behind.
The results read as follows:
Lab 36%, Con 22%, Green 19% ,UKIP 12%, Lib Dem 5%
