Andy Burnham has announced who he as appointed as his Campaign Director and as his Director of Communications.
Burnham is one of five people in the running to be Labour’s next leader. He was already secured 35 nominations from MPs, meaning that his name will definitely be on the leadership ballot paper.
Today he has appointed John Lehal as his Campaign Director. Lehal launched Insight Consulting Group (ICG) in 2006, after previously working for global consultancies. Prior to this he was a parliamentary researcher. He has also chaired an Commission on behalf of the PRCA on Diversity & Broadening Access to the communications industry, and he is a Trustee of Intern Aware: the campaign for fair internships.
Burnham has made Katie Myler Director of Communications. Myler was News Editor and political producer at GMTV for ten years. After this she was a media SpAd for Jacqui Smith (when she was Home Secretary), Andy Burnham (when he was Secretary of State for Health) and for Ed Miliband during the 2010 leadership election. She is now Managing Director at Burson-Marsteller, a WPP company.
