Jeremy Corbyn has been elected leader of the Labour party with 251,417 votes on first preferences – amounting to 59.5%.
Labour announced the results of their leadership election at an special conference in central London this morning. Corbyn was elected with almost 60% of the vote. Andy Burnham came second with 80,462 votes, Yvette Cooper third with 71,417 votes and Liz Kendall fourth with 18,857 votes.
