Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell have to be given enough time to develop an alternative strategy to appeal to the public, Len McCluskey has said.
The General Secretary of one of the country’s biggest trade unions, Unite, urged right wing Labour MPs to focus their attacks on the Government, as opposed to the Labour leader.

Speaking on Murnaghan this morning, McCluskey said it is ‘critical’ Corbyn has the time to develop a strategy that will take the country away from “dour” austerity.
He also said that if anyone can win back votes in Scotland it is Corbyn. McCluskey said it was “utter nonsense” that the May elections would be a referendum on Corbyn and Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale. Today, McCluskey will address Unite Scotland’s conference .
On the subject of Trident, McCluskey said he supported Corbyn’s review of the party’s Trident policy currently being carried out by shadow defence secretary, Emily Thornberry. He urged Corbyn to give MPs a free vote on the subject.
