Jeremy Corbyn takes a pro-business stance by speaking at this year’s British Chamber of Commerce annual conference. This is the same conference that Ed Miliband failed to attend last year, resulting accusations of Labour snubbing the business community.
A spokesperson for the Labour leader explained that this was part of Labour’s “pro-business agenda” and wanting to do more for British enterprise. The move follows several recent moves from the leadership team to bolster their reputation on the economy.
Shadow chancellor John McDonnell has been pushing a new economics policy as part of Labour’s attempt to change the conversation around the economy.
The Labour leader and shadow chancellor John McDonnell today met with Nobel prize-winning economist and member of Labour’s Economic Advisory Council Joseph Stiglitz for the purpose of “formulating Labour’s New Economics”.
Speaking afterwards, Professor Joseph Stiglitz, said:
“It was great to meet up with John and Jeremy and to discuss the new economic ideas that they are looking into, and how we can address the challenges and problems that we face on both sides of the Atlantic.
The conference – titled Decision Time: new politics, new economy, new Britain? – occurs on the 3rd March and will address the challenges facing British business.
