This is the recent success story of Manchester’s Christie Hospital. Christie was saved after Labour people in Manchester campaigned and then the Prime Minister himself intervened to ensure the hospital, which provides vital services to local people, would survive and prosper after it had lost money in the Icelandic bank collapse. Lucy Powell, Labour’s candidate for Manchester Withington, takes us through what happened and asks local people how Labour helped save this crucial hospital.
