RMT have announced that it will be backing Neil Findlay to be Leader of the Scottish Labour Party and Katy Clark to be deputy.
Despite the fact that the RMT is not affiliated with the Labour Party, the union is backing the two candidates who are members of the RMT Parliamentary groups in Holyrood and Westminster.
Mike Cash, the RMT’s General Secretary further explained why the trade union had chosen to back these two candidates:
“Both Neil Findlay and Katy Clark are strong supporters of public ownership and trade union and employment rights and it is clearly in the interests of the working class that they succeed. We wish them every success and stand ready to assist their campaigns.”
Meanwhile, the Musicians Union have also confirmed their support for Findlay – making them the 10th union (including the RMT) to do so.
UPDATE: the Musicians Union has also announced that it’s endorsing Katy Clark to be Deputy Leader.
