Is this the kind of person Cameron wants in his “modern compassionate Conservative Party”?

Remember Brian Coleman? Tells constituents to “live in the real world” when they ask for his help. Served as Boris Johnson’s fire chief until he was dumped from office by the London Assembly by the public in May, and subsequently dumped from Barnet Council’s Executive soon after. Yet he’s still causing controversy, writing on his blog (curiously titled “The King of Bling is back“) that:

“The attitude of Conservative Ministers to Heathrow seemed odd to me as a supporter of the free market. I began to suspect that some female Ministers had gazed into Zac Goldsmith MP’s eyes and had immediately succumbed to his very obvious charms.”

Coleman seems to believe that female MPs can’t help themselves when faced with the handsome visage of Zac Goldsmith MP. Delightful…

Even Barnet Tory Party seem to be distancing themselves from the controversial councillor, with the Barnet Bugle blog reporting a “senior and influential” source there saying:

“He has to make up his mind if he wants to be a member of the Conservative Group in Barnet or a freelance ‘contraversialist’ attacking and slurring Conservative Ministers. The two are not compatible.”

David Cameron also needs to decide – is this the kind of person he wants in his so-called modern compassionate Conservative Party?
