Galloway’s party in disarray as leader Yaqoob quits

September 11, 2012 10:22 pm

Salma Yaqoob – until this evening the leader of George Galloway’s Respect Party – has quit. Her resignation follows Manchester Central candidate skate Hudson’s decision to stand down following Galloway’s comments on Julian Assange and rape. Yaqoob’s statement is below:

“It is with deep regret that I have decided to resign from Respect. The last few weeks have been extremely difficult for everyone in the party. I feel necessary relations of trust and collaborative working have unfortunately broken down. I have no wish to prolong those difficulties, and indeed hope that they may now be drawn to a close.

I remain committed to the principles and values that led me to help found Respect. The policies we have fought for need to be voiced as loud as ever in opposition to a political establishment that remains out of touch with working people.

I would like to thank everyone in the party for their support over the years; I wish everyone the very best for the future and in those common struggles for peace, justice and equality that I am sure we will all continue to be involved in.”

Hahahaha. If Galloway is intending to take over, expect the party to simply implode. Not surprised though because he’s such an incorrigible and nasty character who makes everyone uneasy.

Could she be moving to the Green party?

For all his hype, the real George Galloway is a very nasty bit of work. His remarks about rape are a crack in the facase that gives us an insight as to what he is really like.
What goes around comes around. Let’s hope that his popularity with voters also fades.

Seems that a sensible district organizer would at this moment be trying to recruit Yaqoob. After all if Labour is a broad enough church to have included the likes of Luke Bozier and even now includes the Sainsbury gang, one ex-revolutionary community leader shouldn’t be a problem.

We should be making strong and immediate moves to get her to come over to us.

Glad she has seen sense. Galloway is awful

She is very very good on TV and much better than that blowhard, Galloway.  Labour should really welcome here into our ranks.

If Labour is to build One Nation, it must be a safe and equal one for women

Today End Violence Against Women (EVAW) releases a new report auditing the Government’s progress in acting to prevent violence against women and girls. And with the revelations from Operation Yewtree and group exploitation cases set to roll on for many months , we hope the response from Parliament, policy-makers and the media will be unanimous : that prevention must be at the top of the priority list for any government, of any colour, from now on. On that basis, it’s [...]

This week, amid so much fear, hatred and confusion, let us not forget love

Life can come out and shock you. The events of yesterday are unimaginable. The family of the poor victim are in indescribable pain. Those who knew the men who have done these terrible things will also be suffering. They too are victims of this awful crime. Over the next few days and weeks we will see the best and the worst of humanity. As John Lydon once sang, anger is an energy. Well directed anger is healthy. We should be [...]
