Bonnie Greer and Johann Hari’s speeches in the Plenary session were two of the highlights of Saturday’s Progressive London conference.
Bonnie Greer spoke about the cultural circumstances in which the BNP and the far right can gain influence, in her usual erdudite and passionate way. It’s worth watching her ten minute talk in full, but warning: although there are moments of comedy in her talk, there’s a dark twist:
Independent columnist Johann Hari spoke about David Cameron’s so-called “New Conservative Party”: Jacob Rees-Mogg’s nannying, David Cameron’s eccentric views and George Osborne’s belief that the Inheritance Tax Cuts will benefit people in council houses. It was an amusing interlude:
